PRODUCT TERMS / HONG KONG
TERMSOF USE.
These Terms govern access to the Yanko vocabulary-learning service operated as Yanko, Hong Kong. They apply to free use and to any subscription you purchase through a checkout shown by Yanko.
1. THE SERVICE AND THESE TERMS
Yanko is an online vocabulary-learning service. It provides word-book discovery, personal learning plans, scheduled review, mistake consolidation, practice tools, progress views, and browser-based speech where available. The exact tools available to you depend on the plan and the service version shown in the product.
By creating an account, using an available learning workspace, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service or complete a purchase.
2. ACCOUNTS AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide accurate account information, keep it current, and protect your password and any device with an active session. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account unless you promptly report unauthorized access.
You may not share access in a way that bypasses plan limits, create accounts to evade a restriction, impersonate another person, or use the service for an unlawful purpose. Yanko may require reasonable verification before assisting with account recovery, data requests, or billing changes.
3. ACCEPTABLE USE
Do not interfere with the service, probe for vulnerabilities without written permission, introduce malicious code, scrape the product in a way that harms availability, bypass security controls, or use automated traffic that creates an unreasonable burden. Do not use Yanko to store unlawful, infringing, or harmful material.
Yanko may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, content sources, payment systems, or legal compliance. Where practical, Yanko will explain the reason and available next steps.
4. LEARNING CONTENT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Yanko, its design, software, workflow, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, Yanko grants you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for your own learning.
Some word meanings, translations, and source material are made available under separate open-source or content licenses. Source and license notices are available in the Library and on the Licenses page. You must respect those notices and may not represent Yanko content as your own dictionary or redistribute it beyond rights granted by the applicable source license.
5. PLANS, PRICES, AND RENEWAL
The Pricing page describes the Free, Basic, and Advanced plans. Paid plan prices are shown in HK$ and are billed monthly when you complete a checkout. The purchase page shows the price, billing period, applicable taxes or adjustments, and payment-provider terms before you confirm payment.
A paid plan renews automatically at the end of each monthly period unless you cancel before the renewal time shown in the applicable billing control. Yanko may change a future price or plan feature by giving notice before the changed renewal takes effect.
6. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS
A cancellation stops the next renewal and leaves access available through the end of the period already paid for.
Each subscription payment may be submitted for a refund within 7 days of that payment. The Refunds page explains how to submit a request and the information needed to identify a payment. Cancellation and a refund are separate actions, and a cancellation alone does not reverse a completed payment.
Nothing in these Terms limits a mandatory consumer protection right. Where a law gives you a stronger or different right, that law applies to the extent required.
7. AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES
Yanko works to keep the service available, but access may be interrupted by maintenance, network conditions, security measures, content-source changes, or events outside reasonable control. The service requires an internet connection to save learning activity. Cached PWA screens do not mean that offline answers will be queued or synchronized.
Yanko may improve, replace, or retire a feature when reasonably necessary. We will avoid materially reducing a paid plan during an already paid period where reasonably possible, except where a change is needed for security, legal compliance, or a third-party dependency.
8. DISCLAIMER
Yanko is an educational tool, not a guarantee of examination results, permanent recall, professional qualification, or uninterrupted access. Word meanings, translations, examples, and speech are provided for learning support and may contain omissions, source limitations, or errors.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an as-available basis. This does not remove a warranty, remedy, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yanko is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for loss of data, profit, goodwill, opportunity, or examination outcome arising from use of the service. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence where exclusion is unlawful, or any other liability that Hong Kong law does not permit Yanko to exclude.
10. GOVERNING LAW AND CONTACT
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without applying conflict-of-law rules that would require another law. Courts with jurisdiction in Hong Kong may hear a dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rule that gives you another forum or remedy.
For questions about these Terms, contact beyondempyrean@qqatt.com.
11. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
Yanko may update these Terms when the service, subscriptions, or legal requirements change. The updated Terms apply from the date shown on this page. If a change materially affects an active paid subscription, Yanko will provide notice through a reasonable channel before it takes effect where required or practical.
